Fort Christmas Historical Park followed with visit to Cocoa Village

This will also be a “first” for Day Trippin’ with Patti & Vicky— a visit to Fort Christmas and it’s “Florida Cracker Village.” Christmas 1837 was not merry for a group of US Army soldiers marching through what is now east Orange County. Instead of celebrating with family and friends, the soldiers built a fort (Fort Christmas) on the St. John’s River during the Second Seminole Indian War. We will visit a replica of Fort Christmas which is located in the rural community of Christmas, Florida, 10 miles west of Titusville. Fort Christmas is a typical Seminole Indian War fort made of tall pine pickets. Fort Christmas Historical Park also includes a school and “cracker style” homes which were relocated to the property from their original locations. Following the tour of Fort Christmas, we will drive to the Christmas, FL post office should you wish to mail your holiday cards with a Christmas, Florida, postmark. We will then drive down to Cocoa Village where you can enjoy lunch on your own and/or shopping in the village. If we depart soon enough, we will stop at Grimaldi Candy Company (maker of the famous chocolate covered potato chips.

Cost for the day trip: $70 pp—includes transportation to & from Fort Christmas and Cocoa Village and admission to Fort Christmas and snacks.
